Open Communities is the consulting and advocacy work done by our parent organization, Fund for an Open Society, separately from PSH programs.
The goal of Open Communities is to create and sustain racially and socio-economically integrated communities. Principles and methods are not limited to just racial/class integration; they can also apply to assist communities of diverse age, gender, religion, ability or sexuality (to name a few). The intention is only to promote a true choice whereby different kinds of people may, if they desire it, come together (integrate) and function together (community cohesion). In our view, more integration/cohesion of diverse people is always worthwhile. But it is up to each local community how, when and in what ways that occurs. We offer our experience and unique skill-set to help any community!
